OPEN LETTER (TO A LANDLORD)

Song: Open Letter (To A Lanlord) Artist: LIVING COLOUR  This June's post is for a band that is truly thrilling.  Here I bring you a blast of colour so as to keep moving off the beaten track of orthodoxy in heavy metal. Living Colour were born in the mid-80s in the most exciting city in the world, New York.  And as it couldn't be any other way, they came to shake the metal scene with a blend of styles ranging from jazz to funk. My love for this band is eternal because their music is future-proof. They do things their way, jazz-and-funky-wise, in such an inspiring form that takes me to NY's downtown or sometimes gets me in the mood for playing my favourite sport, basketball. They are metal, black music, urban fashion, city landscapes and rhythm on the basketball court. Let's raise our fist and fight for our neighbourhood with this spirited song. Ready to leave the sombre side and to embrace the colourful. https://open.spotify.com/track/735bOuywETO7z0ed7NJ2cf?si=19B6pw_...

PAINKILLER

Song: Painkiller Artist: TED NUGENT This month's post I want to remember one of the all-time symbols of Hard Rock, Ted Nugent.  When he delivered his album in 1986, I felt the unstoppable need to buy it. And I can tell, how gorgeous and mind-blowing it seemed to me.  Nugent is representative of southern rock, and he does it with new elements that make him utterly different. Here I bring you one song from a comprehensive record, where Ted Nugent achieves a modern approach full of small nuances close to funk. A bunch of good and rather hot songs sprinkled with tearing guitar riffs.  For me, in the middle of the 80's, it meant a breath of fresh air, a mind-opener.  I have picked the last song of the album, where he also stands out for his impeccable way of singing.  A deep voice, plenty of layers suggesting painkiller.  Take this pill in the form of frenetic rock to cool down the situation when it’s burning as hell! https://open.spotify.com/track/2E4zzp6FXGZGI...

NEEDLE IN YOUR EYE

Song: Needle In Your Eye Artist: CRASHDÏET There we go with a band that I have recently discovered thanks to their visit to Zaragoza, my city, despite the fact that they hit the road more than twenty-five years ago.  Crashdïet are a Swedish hard rock band that take pride in being part of the sleaze rock style, which is a sort of glam aesthetic.  Their concert was wondrous and I totally recommend not missing out on the opportunity if they come near you. They have no bad songs and their performances are a thrilling experience to recharge your batteries.  Now you don't have an excuse to let anyone bring you down. Crashdïet are going to make your day.  Here I bring you a song to make your party hotter. Go sleaze and feel like a rebel. https://open.spotify.com/track/3yDuSy9Of4l3USR6DJg5tY?si=pOItOWv-RZiCMrGLqARpPQ

HEAVEN AND HELL

Song: Heaven and Hell Artist: BLACK SABBATH With this song I'm shaping my suite in honour of Black Sabbath .  I cannot help posting this song but I want you to enjoy once again this well-known song that is an everlasting force of Hard Rock .  Ozzy Osbourne 's departures was followed by the arrival of Ronnie James Dio who took his endowments to usher the band through Hard Rock in its most classical form and resulting in one of the most perfect records ever.  Heaven and Hell is history of the music and  its eponymous theme is proof of it.  Here you have the voice of the Hard Rock itself bringing both heaven and hell inside this poem turned into song. https://open.spotify.com/track/4Aw1zpG7lTPjNDAABCzWD1?si=FbRbizbpTLKRFOamdWPl4Q

CHILDREN OF THE GRAVE

Song: Children Of The Geave Artist: BLACK SABBATH This month's post is the first part of my homage to Black Sabbath , the band founded by the glorious guitar player Tony Iommi and the eternal Ozzy Osbourne as vocalist. The band’s first albums date back to the early 70s, with Ozzy as the singer.  In those days you could still hear an influence of psychedelia in their music, but whatever the style of song they recorded, it was always wrapped in a sombre atmosphere that would eventually lead to the Doom Metal style we know today.  And this is the greatness of this first step in the life of Black Sabbath. They were the seed of Heavy Metal , and they have remained one of the most influential bands ever.  Little did I know in the 80s, when I started listening to their albums recorded back when I was just a newborn in the 70s, that that handful of great hard rock songs would become part of rock history and of a legend.  Here I bring you a lesser-known song, full of stre...

STARGAZER

Song: Stargazer Artist: RAINBOW Here I come again, starting a new year by paying tribute to one band with one of the greatest voices in Hard Rock.  I can only think highly of them because they left us everlasting anthems, with which many of us started to love this music.  Thus, Rainbow is one of the major names in the genre. A band that brought together two of the greatest musicians of all time: guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and singer Ronnie James Dio.  Let's start the new year looking back with hope at a colorful world painted by Rainbow.  Enjoy this jewel turned into song. https://open.spotify.com/track/5Ndgg4jBl8Fzho5WpsqNrG?si=gZFz6xv9TfeSnRrL58--6A

PENTAGRAM

Song: Pentagram Artist: POSSESSED This month I bring you another jewel of 80s Thrash Metal by Possessed .  Despite their short discography, they soon became a cult band of the genre and, what is more, were considered one of the first bands of Death Metal . They were one of the first thrash metal bands I listened to when that style burst out in the 80s.  Possessed played at pure speed and were truly representative of what thrash metal means in the end: power, rage, and freedom to create compositions. Far from the restrictions of hard rock and classic heavy metal when it comes to writing music, thrash metal, in my opinion, is jazz-like in terms of not having creative limits in its musical structures. It represents total musical freedom, and Possessed are a major representative of it. Here you have a song from their first LP . A horror film turned into music. Good night and sweet dreams, you all! https://open.spotify.com/track/5swTG5VU41Q7Bh4uriGjaM?si=BbxEGLv_Qq2RMho6HQY3Xw
