I'd like to open this year with the most outstanding band right now in my country. This way, January's post is for Angelus Apatrida. Five-star Spanish thrash metal to conquer the worldwide thrash universe.

My love for the hardest paths of metal  grew up in the 80's as a teenager listening to American beasts like Slayer or Megadeth likewise the finest German thrash made by bands like Kreator or Destruction.

Nowadays, by contrast, Spanish teens have their landmark in Angelus Apatrida whose made-in-Spain music is acknowledged all around the world.

Emerging in the 2000, they've made a name for themselves as stylistic heirs of all those mentioned bands.

AA's music ranges from Speed to Thrash Metal and it does it with thought-provoking lyrics so as to keep us mindful of the world we live in.

It is pleasing when it comes to picking a song and you don't make up your mind since the band's portfolio is teeming with dazzling songs and albums. Thus, Angelus Apatrida first work was a mighty outbreak of thrash metal meaning a career path that has been growing in complexity record by record.

Song: Battle To The Last Artist: DARKNESS This month I want to dust off the music of Darkness .  Some may say there are many bands with that name, but for me, there's only one Darkness. For those who are not familiar with the band, they became, in the late 80s, representative of what we could now call the purest old-school German Thrash style .  Their first two albums are cult items which I was lucky enough to have in my hands. Their records feature underground-drawn artwork that matches their vision of a world in chaos.  What I like most about this band is their raw sound. Listening to their albums is like being at a live concert.
