Co-founder of Night Wish, Tarja Turunen achieved world-wide success with her Finnish band. Nevertheless , climbing to the top may wear you away and she made her mind up to start a new career on her own. 

With her former band she introduced her soprano force but her conspicuos talent needed to break through to new musical languages.

Tarja love for classical and lyric music gave her a boost to fly solo.

Here I suggest the intro of her first studio album and its following song. A beautiful winter snap, perfect for welcoming Christmas. I strongly recommend not only staying at this song but listening to the whole work.

BATTLE TO THE LAST

Song: Battle To The Last Artist: DARKNESS This month I want to dust off the music of Darkness .  Some may say there are many bands with that name, but for me, there's only one Darkness. For those who are not familiar with the band, they became, in the late 80s, representative of what we could now call the purest old-school German Thrash style .  Their first two albums are cult items which I was lucky enough to have in my hands. Their records feature underground-drawn artwork that matches their vision of a world in chaos.  What I like most about this band is their raw sound. Listening to their albums is like being at a live concert.
